Decent service, slow activation

I got the Gigabit Internet plan and the speeds are generally excellent, very consistent for my work from home. However, the activation process took a bit longer than I expected, about 3 days until it was fully up and running. The customer service folks were helpful when I called, but it was still a minor inconvenience. The price is competitive for what you get though.

Blast Internet works well

So I signed up for their Blast Internet a few weeks back. It's been pretty solid, honestly. Me and the kids can all stream and play games at the same time without much lag, which is a big deal around here. Setup was mostly easy, just plugged in the xFi Gateway. No real complaints.

Great value on mobile plan

I switched to Xfinity Mobile recently, got the Unlimited Mobile Plan. I was looking for the best deal and this one really delivered. The mobile switch bonus was a nice perk, and the monthly cost is way lower than my old provider. It felt like a smart purchase and I'm definitely saving money.

Xfinity Home Security rocks!

I just installed Xfinity Home Security and it's fantastic! The Smart Home Sensors work perfectly, and I love being able to monitor everything from my phone. The installation was smooth, and the peace of mind is worth every penny. I'm telling all my friends about this, seriously, go get it!

Thinking about getting Xfinity Home Security, is it really better than just getting a Ring camera system or something cheaper?

C Cleo 2 months ago
It's more of a full-blown monitored system compared to just cameras. They have professional monitoring and smart home stuff, so it's a different level than just Ring.

From what I hear, Xfinity is more comprehensive with professional monitoring and sensors for doors/windows, not just cameras. It's probably more expensive but also more robust than just basic DIY camera setups.

Is Xfinity Mobile any good? I heard it uses the Verizon network, so coverage should be solid right?

R Raj 2 months ago
Yeah, it runs on Verizon's network, so coverage is pretty much identical to actual Verizon. I've had zero issues with it.

Can confirm, Xfinity Mobile uses the Verizon network. So wherever Verizon has service, you'll have service. It's been great for me.

Thinking of switching to Xfinity internet, but I already have my own modem. Can I use it or do I have to rent theirs?

P Priya 2 months ago
Yeah, you can totally use your own modem. Just gotta make sure it's compatible with their service, they have a list somewhere on their site I think.

i use my own! saves like 15 bucks a month. just check their approved list, not all modems work with all their speed tiers.

Hey, I'm moving to Austin next month, how long does it usually take to get Xfinity internet set up there? Is self-install an option?

E Emma B. 2 months ago
Self-install is usually an option if the previous tenant had Xfinity, or if your place is already wired. It's pretty quick then, just plug in and activate online.

E Elena 1 month ago
Depends on if your place is already wired. If so, self-install can be super fast, like same day. If not, you'll need a tech, which might take a few days to schedule.

Are those new customer deals only for like, brand new people? I had Xfinity a few years ago at my old place, would I still count?

P Paula K. 2 months ago
Usually, 'new customer' means you haven't had their service at your address for the last 90 days or so. If it's been a few years, you're probably good.

I think as long as you haven't had service with them at your current address within a certain timeframe (like 90 days), you're considered a new customer. Worth checking with them though!

Does Xfinity internet have data caps? My current provider does and it's a huge pain.

R Rachel Osei 1 month ago
Most of their plans have a 1.2 TB data cap, which is a lot for most people, but if you go over, they start charging you. You can get unlimited though for an extra fee.

O Omar J. 1 month ago
yep, they do. it's like 1.2 terabytes, which is a lot for me, but my buddy who streams 4K 24/7 hits it sometimes.
